Spotted Dog Kitchen: Chocolate Chip Cookies with Leroy
Some days in real estate are filled with showings, phone calls, paperwork, and driving across Texoma. Other days end in a much quieter place — the kitchen.
Recently, I filmed a short video for something I’ve been calling Spotted Dog Kitchen, with my spotted assistant Leroy helping out while I made a batch of classic chocolate chip cookies. While Leroy may not be doing much of the baking himself, he takes his role in quality control very seriously.
One of the things I love most about real estate is getting to see so many different homes. Every house has its own layout, its own personality, and its own story. But the homes that always feel the most special have one thing in common — the kitchen is where life happens.
It’s where cookies get baked after a long day.
Where families gather around the island to talk about their day.
Where friends stand around the counter while dinner is cooking.
The kitchen has a way of bringing people together.
Chocolate chip cookies are one of those recipes that never go out of style. They’re simple, comforting, and somehow make a home feel warmer the moment they come out of the oven. The smell alone can turn an ordinary evening into something memorable.
During the video, Leroy sat patiently at the counter watching every step of the process. He was very invested in making sure the cookies came out just right. I’m fairly certain his favorite part of baking is when the oven timer goes off.
Moments like this are small, but they’re a reminder of what home is really about. It’s not just square footage, finishes, or floor plans. It’s the everyday things that happen inside the walls — cooking, laughing, sharing meals, and making memories.
In real estate we often talk about buying or selling houses, but what people are really searching for is a place where these moments can happen.
A place where you can bake cookies on a random evening.
A place where the dog sits next to you hoping for a crumb.
A place that feels like home.
That’s what Spotted Dog Kitchen is really about — enjoying the simple moments that happen in the heart of the home.
Because at the end of the day, the best homes are the ones where life is lived fully and memories are made.
